Hailing from Elizabeth City, I completed my undergrad at UNC Chapel Hill in Applied Science focusing on Biomedical Engineering. After graduating in 2006 I started working as a contractor for Parata Systems in their reliability department as a mechanical engineer. I then moved to a startup company, Williams Robotics, developing end of arm tooling and programming FANUC robots. A year later I went back to my BME roots working for medical device startup,Physcient. There I found my passion for research and HCI, leading me to pursue my PhD at Virginia Tech.
